"I Had the Craziest Dream" was written in 1942 by
Harry Warren and
Mack Gordon. The song was introduced by
Frank Sinatra's first big band leader,
Harry James (and His Music Makers), with vocals by Helen Forrest, in the film
Springtime in the Rockies. Sinatra would do a devastating version on the "Past" side of his 1980
Trilogy: Past Present Future album.
