1969 Beatles fan club Christmas recording

  • Recorded: Separately, Autumn 1969
  • Released: December 19, 1969
  • Total Time: 7:42
  • Transcript

The final Beatle Christmas offering was also recorded separately, as the band was crumbling at this point. It features an extensive visit with John and Yoko at their Tittenhurst Park estate
(so, you know it's extra wacky), where they play "what will Santa bring me?" games. Harrison only appears briefly, and Starr only shows up to plug his recent film, The Magic Christian. Paul sings his original ad-lib, "This is to Wish You a Merry, Merry Christmas."

    Paul sounds slightly sad, no?

Looking at that picture of the "Fab 4" outside of recording Abbey Road, is like Deja Vu. It was breaking the everyones heart to see these pictures in the news the time and knowing it was all coming to a slow end. Amazing how a picture can show so many attitudes and feelings and you don't need anyone to tell you what was going on at the time. Seems like yesterday.
