"I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo" was written for the 1942 film
Orchestra Wives by
Harry Warren and
Mack Gordon. Big band leader
Glenn Miller and his
orchestra play it during a scene set at the
Glen Island Casino. The vocals are handled by saxophonist
Tex Beneke and
the Modernaires. Also appearing in this musical scene are
Cesar Romero, playing a pianist, and
Jackie Gleason, in an uncredited roll as Ben Beck the bass player.
