A nice thing about living in a small town is that you can imagine, sometimes, what it would've been like to live in an early to mid 20th century America, or an America which existed perhaps only in the imaginations of writers and artists.





You also get a sense of what it would be like to live in an Edward Hopper painting.

Firefox a flame

So, Firefox is now on around 100 million computers, worldwide. And it's only been out "formally" for a year.

I've used both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and with the small exception of a few superficialities, I don't see a lot of difference between them. If there is anything about Firefox that is universally agreed upon as being better, it's hidden and subtle to me.

Don't get me wrong, I like it. But I seem to get more pop-ups while using it than when I'm using Explorer, at which time I get no pop-ups. That's a big difference to me.

The big movie news of the week was that some bloke named Daniel Craig is the new Bond. Despite my belief that the Bond franchise should have ended about seven or eight movies back, I can't help but be excited about this. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the hype. It's as if Broccoli decided to go Lazenby-style with the casting, with Bond being less pretty, more rugged, as per the Ian Fleming novels. Ain't It Cool News has these pics up, which I've "borrowed" (is that wrong?). They have a dim view of the director of Casino Royale, but, like me, are optimistic and hoping for something cool.
