Hell of a burger

I'm sort of fascinated by these incidents of POTUS (any POTUS, by the way) attempting to maintain some degree of a "normal" life. This time found President Obama and Vice President Biden (VPOTUS?) having their weekly lunch together at an Arlington "hole-in-the-wall" burger spot called Ray's Hell Burger (link goes to Ray's the Steaks).


The President's favorite news network has to fill that 24-hour-a-day news cycle with something, especially now that the Swine Flu panic they created has begun to wane!

This reminded me of a previous president, and his love of such fare:

"I've got chunks of guys like you in my stool!"

This is a repost from October 2006, justified by finding the video at the excellent Hulu. The downside is a brief ad at the beginning.....

Here is the late, great Phil Hartman doing what was probably a fairly accurate Sinatra imitation in a McLaughlin Group parody called "The Sinatra Group," from the 1990-91 season (the best cast in my opinion) of Saturday Night Live.

Colonel Angus

"Colonel Angus" was a comedy skit featured on the television show Saturday Night Live that gained notoriety due to its use of ribald word play and gag names. The skit, which aired live on February 22, 2003, in SNL's 28th season, featured the show's guest host Christopher Walken as the namesake Civil War hero Colonel Ennol Angus.

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love"

Here is Queen performing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on Saturday Night Live back in 1982.


"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was written in a rockabilly style, with Freddie Mercury singing in an Elvis Presley-esque fashion. Mercury is said to have composed "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on the guitar in just five to ten minutes. Other accounts say that he wrote it while lounging in a bubble bath. It was the first U.S. number-one hit for the band (in 1979-80), and was the last song on side one of The Game (1980).

While Sinatra was well known for allowing his film directors only one take, he was a bit more of a perfectionist when it came to recording music. But by '93, he was probably a bit like he's portrayed: "Okay, cut it, print it and ship it - I'm buying that one!" I know he was reported to have said out loud in the studio while recording Duets: "Why are we doing this one (any of the songs, which he had already recorded and sung for years) again?"
