Neon
Here are various, recent shots I've taken of neon signs, some working, some not, in and around the Nacogdoches area. I'm sure you're thrilled (your life is now complete). Most of these probably haven't worked in years. Maybe I'll do another post with the ones that actually function, functioning. I took this first one yesterday, and it was the impetus for this post:















Center (opened in 1926 as the SHELBY. Soon after, the theater was renamed RIO, largely in part due to the cost of neon lettering at the time)

Lone Star Feed

I noticed today the "S" is out on the Lone Star Feeds sign.
UPDATE (4/6/06): The "S" is back on (pictures taken on 4/8).

Another look at Lone Star Feeds
If you've seen my photo blog, been to Flickr, or visited here in the last five-eight months, you are perhaps aware I have a healthy obsession with the Lone Star Feeds sign, here in Nac.



It must be a useful beacon to pilots landing at the airport.
Here are a couple of new variations on an old theme:


What can I say? It calls to me. I don't know why. I think of it as being like Hokusai Katsushika's thing with Mount Fuji.
