From Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964), here is Sinatra lip syncing what was always a crowd-pleaser when done live, "My Kind of Town" (by Sinatra songwriting team Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen). Sinatra pal/mobster Sam Giancana is said to have particularly loved the "Chicago! Chicago!" bit at the end. Ironically, this film version has a decidedly Bourbon Street flavor to it.April 12, 2007

This number is quite possibly my favorite Sinatra-Movie-Moment.
ReplyDeleteI first saw this movie about a week before we opened the musical "Crazy for You" by the Gershwins. I played the lead, "Bobby" who was kind of a Sinatra/Astaire combination. So, needless to say I lifted a great deal of my mannerisms from this particular number.

ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of "Crazy for You." It sounds like it was a blast to be "Bobby." Confidence is a mannerism Sinatra always exuded. He's in complete control in that scene.
