Not that it matters, because the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke, but Van Halen has been nominated (i.e., the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will pretend for the next few months they may or may not be nominated in order to drum up publicity for itself) with the class of 2007. Eddie Van Halen was a hero, of sorts, when I was a teenager, and I'm happy they are getting this validation. And, perhaps, the world might see them perform with Diamond Dave, once more....Fingers crossed. R.E.M. also "made the cut" (LOL) for 2007, but that's not a surprise (and was never in any doubt), and, that just makes me feel old.
Read about it.
Van Halen is a great group. They deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
ReplyDeleteWait...you like Van Halen...too??
ReplyDelete;)
I'm ready for Van Halen to be in the Hall of Fame too - Eddie Van Halen completely changed the face of rock music with his guitar playing back in the late 70's/early 80's. I haven't really heard much from him since that time that could compare to back then so that's why I don't really listen to anything after 5150. "Fair Warning" and "Women and Children First" are in my CD changer in my car right now!
ReplyDeleteleslie-
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, the face of popular music during the mid-eighties up to Nirvana would have been completely different had Eddie Van Halen never started playing guitar. I agree that they peaked with 5150, but OU812 has its moments. And just make sure you don't headbang too vigorously while you're driving!
I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE Van Halen. Not as much as Led Zeppelin tho. Robert Plant ROCKS>>>> ( Frank does too but in a different way of course).
ReplyDeleteRobert Plant did croon from time to time, it's true.
ReplyDeleteJim Morrison was another great crooner.
