Sun sets on Shaw's

I guess this is as much my fault as anybody's who lives here, in Nacogdoches, because I do shop at Wal-Mart from time to time:

"Shaw's closing after 50 years in business"

After more than a half-century of doing business in downtown Nacogdoches, Shaw's Department Store on Main Street will soon be closing its doors, and Nacogdoches residents will have to look elsewhere for their size 76 X 30 overalls or that first pair of pink cowboy boots for their 3-month-old granddaughter...
...Opened by Noble Shaw, who ran and operated the store from 1952 until his retirement a few years back when his nephew, Terry Strong, took over the business, the store doesn't appear to have changed that much over the years.
If it were placed anywhere except downtown Nacogdoches, Shaw's would be a living anachronism — still specializing in men's hats, as if JFK had not yet shown up uncovered for his inauguration. But in the historic downtown area of the oldest town in Texas, the dated merchandise fit nicely...
... But Shaw's is not the first specialized downtown business to experience hard times lately, according to Wood.

... Strong was visibly upset about the "inventory sale" sign outside the building, but he was tight-lipped about the reasons behind it...
