SFA Theater neon

sfa theater, nighttime
The pink "F" has been out for a couple of weeks on the SFA Theater here in Nacogdoches. But it has been repaired. It's always nice (and refreshing) to see how well this theater is maintained, despite the fact it is no longer in use. I also love the idea that the neon is lit from sunset to sunrise, every single day. That, to me, is whimsical. And whimsy is a spiritual salve.

My favorite section of North Street. Though come to think of it, that's not saying much, given how trashy the street has become over the years as so many of the houses have been torn down . . .

Yes, North Street is loaded down with fast food joints where those houses used to be, these days. I guess that reality makes the SFA Theater, with its enduring neon, even more special! May it's lights never dim.

As a teenager, my girlfriend and I saw several movies at this theatre. If you went to the last feature, on it's last night, the manager would give you one of the movie posters(you had to ask). This started a liftime collection of one sheets.
